Prince Also Served as Royalty to Animal Advocates

Out of respect for the late, great legend we have kept our mourning to ourselves for a little while. We may have sacrificed some social media buzz, but Prince was a firm believer in always doing the right thing. So, we felt compelled to do the same.

Music lovers worldwide have been mourning, since the death of entertainment icon Prince. He will always be remembered for his groundbreaking music and his commitment to social equality. It is his great love of animals and long-term commitment to a plant-based diet that we want to shed some light on today.

In honor of his legacy of compassion for animals and people, we have compiled some of his most famous quotes and little known facts about this star that loved all animals. Prince valued the lives of animals more than any “Diamonds or Pearls.”

When asked by the Vegetarian Times in 1997 why animal cruelty was such a big issue to him, he replied: “Compassion is an action word with no boundaries.”

Even before he was known simply as the “symbol of love”, Prince would graciously turn away gifts from family and friends that consisted of leather or wool. Prince simply did not want to be a  on the grounds that he did not want any animals to suffer. He did not want to be a symbol for animal cruelty.

He also once declared, “We need an Animal Rights Day when all slaughterhouses are shut down.”

The talented would ‘Go Crazy” thinking about how animals were so vulnerable. He would often speak on behalf of those who had no voice.

Prince was compassionate and would use his star status as a platform to bring awareness to the irony of meat eating. His belief and views towards animals were eloquently summarized in his song “Animal Kingdom,” when he sang: “No member of the animal kingdom nurses past maturity/ No member of the animal kingdom ever did a thing to me. It’s why I don’t eat red meat or white fish/ Don’t give me no blue cheese. We’re all members of the animal kingdom/ Leave your brothers and sisters in the sea.”

Rest in peace, Prince! Your contributions to society ranged far beyond music. Today, people and doves will cry.
