Are you ready for a mind-blowing fact that you will not forget anytime soon?. A new study conducted by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) revealed that eating an eight-ounce steak has the exact same impact on the environment as driving a car for 29 miles.
These same experts at FASEB found that eating the identical same amount of plant-based protein was equivalent to driving a car for only three miles. We are not mathematicians, but that is an incredible difference. Imagine the impact we could have on the environment if even just 20% of the population bought into the Veg philosophy.
The study examined 39 plant-based meat alternatives and found that producing these products from farm to factory emits 10 times less greenhouse gas than producing beef. The lead researcher, Alfredo Mejia stated, “as the world population grows, there’s an urgent need to produce protein-rich foods that are friendlier for the environment and healthy for people. We have the power to use our fork to take care of our health and our planet.”
We salute you Alfredo and could not agree more. We need to help spread the word on our ability to shape the world now, so that we are not in a bigger crisis in 10 years. By making changes now, imagine how many more animals will be spared in the process. If people had to walk the same 29 miles to eat a steak, perhaps that dissuade them.
