If you have never watched HBO’s popular series VICE then we strongly encourage you to check it out. The show is often quite candid and as bleak as the picture it paints. The most recent episode featured facts about the serious consequences that the environment faces due to the herd mentality for well, the herds of “meat.”
VICE Correspondent Isobel Yeung toured a farm factory slaughterhouse. It was every bit as gruesome as you might expect, perhaps even too graphic for young children. Yeung documented the pollution and brutality involved with these slaughterhouses and the VICE team even toured a large area by helicopter to get a macro level view of the mind boggling number of cattle. A cast member even commented on “this is how we can get a dollar burger.”
The next segment on VICE focused on the diminishing water levels in the world and how the two subjects went hand and hand. Yeung would later state that she does eat meat, but she admitted “as we diminish our resources, people like me will have less and less choice.” The time is now, not twenty years from now. If you want shade from a tree in 2015, then you should have planted it in 1995. The Appetite for Peace team encourages everyone to watch this eye opening episode of VICE.
