Have you ever wondered why so many celebrities are vegetarian and vegan? The answers vary from their love of furry and finned friends to combating disease, and from pure vanity to detoxing their bodies. Several celebs still simply opt for compassion of animals and the environment.
The list of celebrities is quite extensive: Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Carrie Underwood, Joaquin Phoenix, Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres, and even Mike Tyson.
There is the epic story of how Anne Hathaway lost 25 pounds for her casting in “Les Miserables” as Fantine. However, it was her role as Catwoman in 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” that led the Hathaway, an Oscar-winner to adopt a vegan diet.
Joaquin Phoenix claims to have been a vegan since age three. Phoenix credits the children’s book “Charlotte’s Web” for giving him everlasting compassion for animals. Mike Tyson was on a path to self destruction with drinking, drugs, and poor eating habits. Tyson credits being vegan for curing his high blood pressure, arthritis, and dropping 100 lbs.
What is holding you back from being vegetarian or vegan? Time management? Fear of being a social outcast? Discipline? Is it just a lack of compassion for animals?
If Ellen,”Batman”, J-Lo, “Catwoman”, the “American Idol”, and “Iron Mike” can do it with their hectic lives and time demands…why don’t you? Be the celebrity in your crew that makes the move to go Veg this year.
